Istanbul is situated in the Marmara region, in the north-west part of Turkey. It has a very important location with the Bosphorus strait between the Black and Marmara Seas and divides Europe from Asia. On its western shore European Istanbul is separated by the Golden Horn (Halic) into Old Istanbul in the south and Beyo?lu in the north.
There are main two bridges between Asia and Europe. The Fatih Sultan is situated between Hisarüstü and Kavacyk. It is 1,510 m long with a deck width of 39 m.
