The Basilica Cistern (Turkish: Yerebatan Sarayi - Sunken Palace, or Yerebatan Sarnici - Sunken Cistern), is the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople), Turkey.
